We provided our specialist church & ecclesiastical property maintenance services for St Matthew’s Church located in Wigan, Greater Manchester. A combination of  both IRATA industrial rope access techniques and PASMA mobile scaffold access towers were used to gain access to all the required areas. These light-weight systems are non intrusive, perfect for church buildings where the inherent nature of these sites result in significant restrictions for heavy plant and machinery.

The project scope covered various maintenance and repair tasks to the church roof, rainwater goods and the belfry tower. Several slipped and missing slate tiles were replaced and all rainwater goods and gutters cleaned of leaf fall and vegetation. The belfry tower had also become a roosting spot for the local pigeons, causing a significant mess within the tower. Once our specially trained technicians had cleaned and disinfected the bell chamber, our abseil team installed bird netting to the external louvers to prevent the issue reoccurring.

Periodic gutter cleaning and rainwater goods maintenance is vital in reducing the risk of water ingress within buildings, click here to find our more about our church maintenance services.
