Rappel was approached to devise a cost-effective access strategy to enable remedial works on the local iconic chimney structure, The Old Brickworks, Drighlington.
Once the initial access system was installed, our IRATA Building Maintenance Team undertook full brickwork repointing works to all four elevations of the chimney, which stands over 100ft tall. This included carefully grinding out and removing previous deteriorated mortar joints to a uniform depth, followed by repointing with a new black ash lime mortar. Additionally, all bracing bands and signage were cleaned, maintained, and repainted.
This was a great project to be involved with, as it showcased the capabilities of modern Industrial Rope Access techniques and equipment, saving our client significant costs.
